Gloucester is a sign post now

I once heard a profound statement by a politician, not someone I would probably ever agree with but someone I respect none the less, and he said (im paraphrasing ) there are two sorts of politicians sign posts and weathercocks.. you would meet a sign post and know what they thought and where they were going... perhaps not bump into them again for a few years but when you did they would have the same direction and ideas. Then there are weather cocks.. consult all over the place change their minds depending on public opinion polls.. say one thing to one group and another to another.. I could extrapolate this a bit further and suggest that this is a major tactic of the libs... in one part of the country they say something different to another or their Westminster leaders...

Anyhow.. I was thinking about Gloucester and it really was a bit of a weather cock before we got minority control.. the administration (at the time Lib + Lab partnership) was slammed for lack of direction and leadership...

Since the conservatives have been in charge we have had a clear set of priorities and stuck to them... only 3 to 5 ish but that's good compared to 25 odd under the previous admin.. (mostly cause they tried to appease everyone all the time). I am sure from campaigning and canvassing people realise that the differences they see have come about since the Tories have taken control. Even some council officials say things like at least we know where we are going with you lot in control...

On Dhanda I feel he's going to be a weather cock over this post office issue.. I'm looking forward to checking Hansard tomorrow to see how he voted!
