Petrol Prices due to rise again

Its largely rumoured that on wed we are going to be seeing another 2p on petrol again. We have already seen a Sharpe rise in the last year of the price of petrol. Indeed an increase of 10p will see the government taking nearly an extra 2p in VAT alone. Also an increase in duty of 2p is really more than this (2.35p) since we have to pay VAT on the duty as well as the actual cost of the fuel.

The Govt and we know the demand for petrol is very un-elastic and that any claims about pushing price up for green reasons just doesn't wash. It simply takes money out of our pockets and therefore out of our economy the last thing we need when we are heading for a recession.

I hope the next Tory govt does some real thinking about duty on fuel, and actually cuts it, especially if the price of oil stays the same or goes up further.

This Govt really has it in for the car driving motorists... it's just one of many things they are doing at the moment.

The Budget

It seems to me that they just tax everything that is fun in life eg petrol, alcohol, cigerettes etc. Soon we'll have an oxygen tax or a thought tax!
