CF Election results

Well I'm glad Michael Rock Won the results were close all getting about 30% of the vote which makes it seem a shame that only the winner gets a position with CF

Some of the folks i wanted on the Exec made it which is good... I don’t really know what to say...

but well done those that made it

Out on the Campaign trail again today

I was worried about the weather but thank God it held out all day!!! We had a campaign day in Gloucester to help canvass and deliver The PPC newsletter, thanks to CF member Owen and Nick for coming to help with Richard's campaign.

Being well received on the door is a good sign that the tide has definitely turned against this government. I just hope people realise that in places like Gloucester voting lib-dem just won't cut it, to get this lot out we need to be voting Tory.

CF Election, voted at last

Finally Voted as the papers arrived this morning. Wow yeah!

CF Elections no ballot papers yet

Now slightly worried since the ballot papers haven't as yet turned up... I'm defiantly a paid up member I recall them taking cash out my account about 6-9 months ago... it automatically comes out my account I think...

CF Elections

Assuming I get a ballot paper... its always a bit nerving seeing Nick write that most people will get them.. but somehow some will magically get left off.. probably a hangover from national / branch membership... anyways

I've decided this is how I'm voting:

Michael Rock

And For Exec:

Anastasia Beaumont-Bott

Christian May

Matt Lewis

Owen Meredith

Patrick Sullivan

Steven Ricketts

Good luck everyone!

Bristol CF hustings

I went along to the CF hustings in Bristol, really with little clue who each of the candidates were. With conversations with CF piers I had an idea who I wanted to vote for, for chair. But I really had no idea about the exec. I was originally backing Michael Rock, I like his ideas of decentralising the events and action days. After all decentralization is a tory ideology.

On the day I felt that Matthew Richardson was the best speaker, seemed to have the sort of qualities you would expect for a chair. I think Daryl seemed to be the most qualified, I though Michaels speech was the weakest, it wasn't until the Q and A that Michael came through. So on the balance of things I am sticking with my original plan and supporting Michael Rock for chair.

It was good to see some of the Exec there, I think I will give all six who spoke a vote but out of the six four stood out and they will defiantly get a vote I'm not completely decided whether I'm casting six or four.

On the whole it was a good event and I'm glad I went. well done nick on creating such a successful event.. right down to the travel plans!!

Social Action Projects

Its been a while since we have done something like this, and its about time we did one again, I'm talking about the Bristol and Gloucestershire CF (young conservatives)... I think though everyone should be involved helping the community in one way or another social action projects are a great way to help voluntary organisations or people who are in need, especially if you can't make a regular time commitment to a charity or good local cause.

As I recall seeing a piece on the news... or possibly in the spectator I really can't remember now, saying that over here our voluntary sector isn't big enough or up to the job of taking over from the state in looking after people whilst they get back on their feet, obviously there is a balance here and the state has to play its part, but ideally I'd like to see the pendulum swing the other way where the voluntary sector take on more, but what I really mean is us all of us who are in that working and living relatively well off to actually get involved and contribute to our own community... I suspect that if we all did a little bit to help each other we might just get a little sense of community back!
